Winter Fashion 2015: 3 Perfect Travel-Friendly Coats

The fashion — the art of dressing and layering — is one of the best things about winter. I love the glamour of long Olivia Pope-style coats, the chicness of over-the-knee boots, the boldness of colorful accessories…I love it all. Neutrals and bright colors share closet space in equal parts, and there’s something for every mood of mine.
I’ll let you in on a secret — as much as I love indulging in retail therapy, I actually hate spending (read: wasting) time shopping in the store and much prefer online shopping from the comfort of my own bed with a glass of wine in hand (the wine’s not a good idea for the impulses!). I also don’t like trying on clothes in fitting rooms and would much rather have my entire closet at my finger tips when I’m determining how it fits on me and how it aligns with the rest of my wardrobe. The only time it’s tolerable for me is when I’m in cities such as London or Paris and there are small boutiques with aspiring designers that warrant an in-person look.
Every fall/winter, I purchase at least 3 new coats to add to my collection and I’m often asked where I buy them. The beauty of online shopping is that you can cover so much ground in just a few quick minutes with a few short clicks, so my purchases come from a wide range of sources including Nordstrom, J. Crew, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lyst, Net-a-Porter, and many more.
This winter, I’m excited to add these three beauties to my collection. I love wrap coats — they’re super chic and the perfect coat for layers. As much as I love black, I try not to inundate my closet with a sea of black coats and opt for statement coats whenever possible.
When purchasing a coat, I look for: unique cuts, luxurious fabrics, different lengths and collars, bold designs, bright colors, and added details such as faux fur (beyond being unethical, I can’t bear the thought of an actual animal’s skin draped around me).
All three travel super well, keep me very warm, and are positively feminine.

1) Ted Baker London ‘Lorili’ Funnel Neck Wool Blend Wrap Coat
The bright fuchsia color is so luscious — it’s drool-worthy and eye-catching.
2) Vera Wang ‘Serena’ Faux Fur Collar Wool Blend Fit & Flare Coat
The crowning glory of this coat is the glamorous faux fur collar that makes a statement all on its own.
3) Vince Leather Trim Belted Wrap Coat
The dual-toned neutral palette makes it easy to pair with everything.
