are hiding at Extraordinary Desserts, a sweet haven of the most decadent and quality desserts. There are two locations in San Diego — one on 5th Street and the other on Union Street, both in downtown. Personally, I’m sold on both locations, although the cafe on Union Street is much larger than the one on 5th Street, meaning the wait for a table is considerably shorter. But don’t be swayed by the wait, the line goes relatively fast. While the ambiance is an absolute pleasure–so fresh and lively–the service is not as pleasurable. But take it to go, if you have to. The amazing array of tarts, sorbets, cakes, souffles, coffee, tea, and other delicate pastries will be well worth it. Try the macadamia nut lemon cake or the passion fruit ricotta torte — you’ll be obliged to spread the word. You can also opt for wine with the delicious desserts, if tangy teas and exotic coffees are not your thing.
