Travel Tip #18: Keep track of all your frequent flier accounts using programs such as AwardWallet and TripIt.

There’s hundreds of frequent flier programs available, and you may be part of 2, 3, 4, or even more. Instead of wasting time to check the individual accounts, use third-party apps/programs that help to streamline all your accounts and track all your points and miles balances on one neat page. One of the services I use for organizing my frequent flier miles is AwardWallet. There’s multiple membership options, but the basic plan works just fine for me. It aggregates all my balances and travel plans, notifies me when my balances are set to expire, and allows me to share my travel plans.

Very similar to AwardWallet is another program I’ve used in the past: TripIt Pro (30-day free trial and then $49/year). You can stay up to date on your balances and expiration dates, create alerts about flight delays, cancellations, and gate changes, and share your travel plans with your contact base. There are also other perks such as a 1-year complimentary membership to Hertz #1 Club Gold and Regus Gold.

A few others that I’ve heard of, but have yet to try are: Mileage Manager and GoMiles.com. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
