Thanksgiving just passed, but I’m still full of gratitude, love, and yummy food. Those of you that celebrated it, hope it was a good one! =)

The Cultureur turned 3 months old today, and I’m super grateful for all your likes, comments, tweets, posts, and support! Just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to all my subscribers, readers, and followers. You guys/gals are rockstars! =)

I entered the blogosphere exactly 3 months ago today. And in that 3-month journey, I’ve learned a great deal about hashtags, travel chats, website design, coding, and the big bad world of blogging, in general. I’m no expert, but I’ve picked up a few tips along the way that hopefully can help you, especially if you’re just starting out as well.

  • Participate in twitter chats (there’s chats available for just about every topic you can imagine: travel, beauty, food, etc.) to “meet” likeminded people, some I’ve enjoyed are #travex, #luxchat, #ttot, #tni, #jsett, #eattheworld, and #frifotos
  • Introduce your interesting tweeps to others with a shout-out, #TravelTuesday/#TT and #FollowFriday/#FF
  • Hash tag frequently, but wisely
  • Keep your tweets concise and to the point
  • Don’t just post and RT, engage with people
  • Post photos, a picture is worth a 1000 words
  • Pay attention to the times and days of post
  • Show some love if you enjoy the tweet, RT it
  • Engage on a visual medium like Pinterest, again we’re visual creatures
  • Post interesting content, and often
  • Use a photo of yourself as your social media avatar, people like to connect with people, not faceless eggs
  • Mention your website/blog link under your profile picture
  • Always respond to comments on your blog: if others can take the time out and comment, you can take the time to thank them and reply
  • RT instead of Retweet (there IS a difference: http://www.blueglass.com/blog/rt-versus-official-twitter-retweets-how-are-they-different/)
  • If someone mentions you on Twitter, respond
  • Be yourself, use your voice, and let your personality shine!
