awaits you at Augustiner am Gendarmenmarkt, a Bavarian-style restaurant in the charming upscale Gendarmenmarkt area near Friedrichstraβe. Typically from Vienna, Apfelstrudel is a dessert that consists of a cinnamon-spiced apple filling encrusted in layers of flaky pastry pieces and topped with creamy vanilla sauce. Though it can be found in abundance around Berlin, the Apfelstrudel at Augustiner remained triumphant during my quest to find the best in the city. The journey for that perfect pile of sweet goodness was a long one, but it was well worth it, not to mention deliciously rewarding. While in Berlin, this is a culinary pleasure not to be missed, especially for those with a hyperactive sweet tooth. Another strong contender is Café Einstein on the famous Unter den Linden.
