is most definitely at the Haji Ali Juice Centre, located at Haji Ali Circle near Cumballa Hill. Founded in 1937, it’s an institution in Mumbai, with listings in almost every guide book. It’s a juice stall/fast food joint on the side of the road that’s able to charge Rs. 150/glass and still triumph over its competitors who charge Rs. 10/glass. Though it enjoys a long list of loyal patrons consisting of locals and foreigners alike, I can see why some may call it overrated/overpriced/blah blah. But I think its selling point is stocking not only local Indian fruits, but also imported varieties. And being able to blend both flavors is why it tops my list. They literally have all sorts of different fruits and vegetables to choose from: strawberries, oranges, sweet limes, pomegranates, kiwis, mangoes, you name it! My favorite is the strawberry-kiwi-sugar apple (sitaphal) combo. They also have small Indian snacks available, but I usually steer clear of them and pounce on the fresh juices instead. I also hear their fresh fruit cream desserts are amazing, but I haven’t tried them. For me, nothing beats a refreshing glass of freshly squeezed juice on a hot day! And warm weather is something to be expected year round in Mumbai.
